As some of you may recall, when last we left our hero he was searching high, and yea, verily, low, for a new case to house his iPAQ Pocket PC. This week, we'll look at the ever popular flip-top case.
Read More: The Case for the Right Case Part 2: Flip-Top Cases

I know exactly what you mean about the Vaja case. I got one for my iPAQ 3635. It ran just over $100, but it was a work of art. But when I went to my 3800 series iPAQ, the change in the button configuration made the case unusable with it. So that was a lot of money down the drain.

My sister inherited my 3635 and she loves the case. She's very much into quality leather accessories like Coach purses and stuff, and the Vaja case is like the Coach purse of PDA cases in her eyes.

But for me, since I upgrade my Pocket PCs so often, I can't justify the expense of a Vaja case that I'd only use for a few months. Especially since there are some very nice cases for a lot less. For example, I just got a Slipper case from E&B for my 5455 and, although it doesn't exude luxury like the Vaja, it's still a very nice case made of quality leather. And $36.95 is a quite a bit more palatable than $100+ for a Vaja.

Hi,

I must admit that I never thought of spending that much on a case, or indeed, that you could! I have had both a flip case which opens at the top and one which opens at the top. THe one which opened at the top cost me about £35 ($55) and was very nice. It was made of leather and stuck to my Casio EM-500 with velcro. It only offered full protection on one side, and I don't think it would have survived a drop. That wasn't really the point though, ans it was to protect my screen. I really liked this case and it was a shame to get rid of it.

I replaced it with a Bodyglove case which cost a very reasonable £13 ($20). This was made of a blue cloth, and was great. It also used velcro, but offered full protection. THis was much better and opened with a zip, but this was too slow compared with my other flip one. Unfourtunately that was stolen, but luckily my Casio E-200 wasn't in it.

At the moment though, I am just using my PDA with a screen protecter, and carry it around 'naked.' To be honest, I think this has to be the most easy to use. It uses the least space, and you dont need to open a case.

I think if I were to get a new one, I would get the Otterbox indestructable case, which although is expensive £65 ($80) I think, it will offer the amount of protection I will need in other circumstances when I don't carry it around 'naked.'

Interesting...

When I said that they were new, it was because the website only hand recently gone up. I had never heard of them before.

I also don't understand why a case manufacturer wouldn't offer a case with a belt clip. It just makes sense to me...

Kind Regards,

Why oh why can't HP design iPaq's with the Jornada's built in flip top cover. Then it would be the perfect PPC.

Wow. I sure disagree with THAT! I had a Jornada 567 for a while, and really didn't like it. Besides the wierd shaped extended battery, and odd cradle that wouldn't let you sync with the PC Card adapter attached to the device, the Capt. Kirk, plastic flip cover really bothered me.

I had those Star Trek Communicator Walkie Talkies as a kid, and the Jornada with its plastic flip cover reminded me of those walkie talkies. Boy what a waste of plastic! (the flip cover...)

You may have liked the flip cover, but I couldn't stand it!
