Dashboard and Pocket Informant

Hi Chris!

I've looked through the various posts about Pocket Informant support and am excited that you are supporting this PIM. What level of integration / support is provided by your latest Beta? (I have the Beta installed and it looks like it is calling up the PI entries; is Dashboard PI aware or is there a setting I need to make). I'm using the latest version of PI.

I have seen problems with the PPC freezing up after saving a change. Also, on the QuickLaunch pad, If I wanted PI to be the default app for Agenda and Contacts, what do I need to enter. Are there any parameters or settings to make.

Where do I find those neat Skins I have seen on this board.

Hi,

Dashboard is PI-aware in that it can detect that PI is installed and when you tap on an Appointment/Task or Contact it will display that item in PI instead of the default Microsoft applet. I try to work closely with Alex to keep the two in sync - sometimes we drift apart a little but we're always quick to get them working again.

To make PI the default app for Quicklaunch, just go into the Options dialog and change the entry on the Quicklaunch tab for those. You will want to drill into wherever PI is installed and choose it. I do not think any command line parameters are necessary (or will even do anything).

Hi,

I tried messing around with parameters and was not able to get this to work. So, I eventually pointed the Quick Launch options to the informant utilities in the start menu. Soecifically:

Agenda Quick Launch = \windows\start menu\programs\pocket informant utils\picalendar.lnk

Tasks Quick Launch = \windows\start menu\programs\pocket informant utils\pitasks.lnk

My Dash Quick Launch = \windows\start menu\programs\pocket informant utils\picontacts.lnk

The only little annoyance with this is that the Agenda Quick Launch does not go to the same Agenda view in PI every time. If PI Is not open when you tap on the ! it opens PI to the Agenda view. If PI is open when you tap !, it will cycle through the views each time you tap on the ! (e.g. Agenda, then Day, then Week, then month, then Agenda, etc). I wish either one specific view could be opened each time you go to PI, or the last view you were using. But, that is a PI issue, not Dashboard.

Even so, pointing to the lnk files works for me.
