I'm interested in possibly purchasing the dashboard but I don't see any support for the Dell Axim. Does it work with the Dell? I used the trial Dashboard a little while ago and it kept freezing my device. It's been about 5 months so I'm wondering if it's working better. Please advise because I would love to use your program.

thanks!!!

I have a Dell Axim. Dashboard works great with final version 1.5.001a all the way up to the latest Beta. I have not experienced any issues. I am also using Wisebar 1.2 Beta 4 with no problems.

cool, thanks for the reply. I think I'll give it a try. Do you have any suggestions as far as skins go? and where to get them? I'm interested in the clean looking ones.

Currently Wincustomize is the official skin site for Dashboard.
currently the library has 399 skins... I am certain you will find 1 or 2 that you consider clean looking.

have fun browsing the library;)

I was just reading a couple posts about dashboard being really slow. BUT, they were using the trial version and not the actual. Is the registered version faster? Or, can you even tell?

Slow would need some sort of context for me to understand.
I do not find dashboard slow.
however if your changing from one module to another and the skin your using has a different wall load for each module there would be a bit of a delay. But this is a skin design issue not a dashboard issue.

I realize slow is all relative. Actually, on snoopsoft's website the trial version is an older version, and as such hasn't been upgraded with the current release. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and give it a try.

Thanks again!!

Hi,

Yes, the trial version is what, 3 years old now? I have promised to update it as part of the 2.0 release and I am still intending to do that. I am working on the expiration code now so hopefully I'll get it updated.

The new releases are so unlike the Trial it's not even a fair comparison anymore and that's why I am working to rectify it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply,

that's what I thought. I think I'll give it a try because I love the look and feel of Dashboard.

thanks again!!

I did have a quick question on a nother subject. Knowing already that the wisbar code has been the basis for icbar, would there possibly be any confilitcs or incompatibilities with dashboard if I'm using icbar?

I refere you to this thread http://www.pocketnow.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=13472
The second last and last post suggest that Chris is working with the developer of Icbar to obtain compatability. ;)

You guys are awesome!! Thanks Citats.

I guess I should have asked this before but I was looking at all of the today stuff that I currently use and wondering about the compatibility with all of them.

I'm using:
Journal Bar,
Battery Bar (the program launcher),
Calendar+,
Task plus,
PocketMon (from sprite software backup utility).

Will the Dashboard work with them, or is there something that works better with dashboard? Maybe there are threads I could find but I haven't had much success looking for them.

Thanks again for your help!!

UPDATE!!

I poked around and found that many of the Today Plug-ins seem to work. I'm going to give it a try.

I know this is a total bonehead question, but I have to ask because I just can't figure it out. I finally upgraded from an original HP Jornada 548 to the brand spanking new HP iPAQ 2215 and I'm installing Dashboard. I think I got everything to work except the Today screen background image is still showing when I press the Start Menu and also shows a green (grass) bar on the bottom. Any idea how to either blank out or customize the background to be compatible with the Dashboard skin?

A skin designer has the option of including a today page theme with the dashboard theme so that your menu is also skinned rather then looking at something that is obviously out of place.
However The skinner has 3 options.
1. Don't include a today skin
2. Include it in the zip file ( user must configure it them selves, by copying it to the "My Documents or Windows Folder on their PPC"
3. Include the today skin with the dash skin and code the dash skin to load it automatically ( in order for this to work you have to of previously copied the .tsk into the same folder as the dashboard skin when you installed the skin.)

I personnally opt for 3 when I make a skin. ;)

hey emmfan,

how did you get the 2215 already?

yeah, I finally figured out the whole Themes thing. I guess I've been stuck with my Jornada 548 for so long, I skipped the whole Today Theme's introduction and education period. I went ahead and created my own Theme to match with the old Dashboard skin. Thanks.

As for my lovely new HP iPAQ 2215, I picked it up at Fry's in Fountain Valley, CA yesterday during lunch. It seems like a lot of chain stores got there's in early in anticipation for the release this coming Friday. Sounds cool. Whaddya think? How much did you pick it up for?

I got it for $399. That seems to be pretty much the standard price. I am thoroughly enjoying it, considering I've been stuck with my old HP Jornada 548 for the past 4 years or so. The 2215 is ridiculously faster, smaller, and brighter.
