View Full Version : Dashboard and my new HP2215

Years and years ago, I owned a Cassiopiea e-125. One of the first ones out, and I loved it. It was large, and unruly, and you knew if you ever got mugged you could hit your attacker over the head with it.

Then, I got CILE'ed. Sony came out with this wonderfull flips screen device, and I bought one. However my love afair with Palm soon dwindled as all the apps I had for Win CE were just not up to snuff, that and the proprietary memory format when Compact Flash kept dropping and dropping.

Speaking of Dropping, the same thing happend, this weekend with my CLIE.

Fortunately, my Best Buy protection program let me walk right in and turn it in for a new machine.

I picked up the HP2215

Man this baby is fast. Its ULTRAFAST. Where things would lag and I would get hourglasses on my e-125, I have yet to see one here. I have downloaded and run Supernintendo Emulators with full sound and no frame skip, all with perfect fast execution.

However, I missed my Launcher X, sorted through my old old softare and found out that the Dashboard that I had bought for MIPS, was also available for ARMs.

I Installed it!

Im now running the very up to date Dasboard 1.2! I went to the upgrade web page at Snoopsoft, and they had no record of me. Im ok with that, it was years ago, and I make enough money Ill probably just buy it again.

However, Im trying to think if I really need to.

Dashboard does everything I want, Ive skinned it and ICBar together with a beautiful skin by Juni. It tasks, launches, plans, everything I need, just fine.

However, these are things I would LIKE Dashboard to do.

1) Id like to be able to have it go to the Appointment page whenever I power on the machine, or at least whenever I bring up Dashboard, Id like it to go to that page first.

2) I dont use Email on my PPC. Id like to plug someting else into that page. (Notes would be really great).

3) The Skin that Im using for Dashboard causes something funky to happen to my Freespace Dashboard Plugin. The plugin comes up black on dark grey, and is hard to see the slider scrollbars. This is Skin Specific, as when I drop other skins on it, they show up using other system colors. Id love to be able to change these system colors from within the application.

Other than that, I dont know if I really NEED anything else. Can the new dashboard do any of the above?

Thanks!

Dharman

I just go my 2215 and download the latest beta. However, I could not get it to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

dpaulsmith-Using WinZip 8.0 extract the dashboard.arm file, copy that file to your device's My Documents folder and click on it in file explorer. 2.026 will now be installed on your device.

Dharman07-Did you put in your e-mail address and city and state?

I see what you mean now. The multiple plug-in function works ok, but try to change a skin and all you get is the option for the Today Theme. I've been using those since this was first possible but what I miss is being abe to use different .dsh file for the button layouts.

Dharman, get the beta of 2.0. It flies on the 2215, much faster than 1.whatever.

Hi,

I am very close to releasing a native build just for the new Pocket PC 2003 devices. And yes, the new iPaq's are incredibly fast! I'm still in awe whenever I use it for testing.

Thanks!

Chris you never fail to amaze me! Will there be a beta of the Pocket PC for 2003 native build for registered users?

Thanks Chris - I'm looking forward to the PC 2003 version.

And add to the list of awed 2215 owners. I loaded 6500 contacts into Outlook and there is no lag in selecting records, switching views etc... Simply amazing.

I am a little confused -- not unusual. Is there a way to get the current beta version working on a 2215? Mine locks up on reset after installing the latest beta.

Thanks,
Mark

Same here - as happy as I am with the 2215, it does lock up when I try to launch Dashboard.

Like they said - locks up at initial load after reset.

FYI -- as mentioned in the other thread, installing 2.0.026 OVER 1.51a fixed the problem on my 2215.

It no longer locks up on reset.

Mark

Hi,

I updated the other thread also - the 2003 version of Dashboard will be out tonight or tomorrow. It's all built and sitting on the site I just need to plug it into the database so you can download it.

I will post a note here as I always do when it is available.
