View Full Version : deleting dashboard
I am trying to delete Dashboard from my 3955. Actually, all that shows up is /Snoopsoft/dashboard/dashboard.dll. I cannot delete it. When I try, I get the message, "cannot delete...access is denied.
Do a soft reset and then you should be able to delete the file.

If it persists, you can do what I do when it's time for a completely fresh Dashboard installation. (I've been testing betas for a long while, and on my Casio EG-800 have Dashboard installed to an unusual 'flash' memory location, where it seems incredibly stubborn in resisting deletion.) Using a registry editor, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Dashboard" and open the string called DLL. The path there probably looks like this:
\Program Files\SnoopSoft\Dashboard\Dashboard.DLL
Rename that last to .OLD or anything else you like. Soft reset. Then delete the DLL, and all the Dashboard registry entries too if you like. It's this element in the registry which, in some cases, can make the program not want to completely uninstall. You could probably just delete that key entirely rather than renaming, but I like to edit things in the registry carefully, in ways which can easily be reversed if it turns out not to have worked.
PHM's or Resco's or Tascal's or any other registry editor will allow this edit without difficulty.
