Dashboard v2.0.036

Hi,

I've posted the 2.0.036 version to the Order Lookup page today.

I found and fixed one small issue with unloading Today modules in this version but nothing else has changed.

I've been testing with some of the modules that people are saying they are having issues with and here's what I see with this version:

iPaq Panel - Seems to work fine.

Pocket Plus - This one I don't understand at all. I downloaded the trial version and it appears in the options for Dashboard. I can also go in and see it's Options dialog from within Dashboard but activating it does nothing on my device.

Journal Bar - Still has a soft-reset issue in the latest Journal Bar code when removing it from the Today screen as well as changing a skin in Dashboard that requires the Today Theme to change (which causes Dashboard and all the Today modules it has loaded to reload).

TodayPlus - Seems to work fine.

I've done some more testing with Pocket Plus and here's what I've found so far with it:

On my 2003 device it does nothing.

On my 2002 device it shows up on the screen and seems to function OK but has no transparency. It also causes my device to run really slow whether I run it inside Dashboard or remove Dashboard and run it by itself.

On the 2002 device, both iPaq Panel and Journal Bar work great. They both have tranparency and no soft resets at all.

Chris, I just noticed that the full mail module is not working on .036 beta. If I tap on a message a grat screen flashes up then it goes back to the today screen and if I tap on th down arrow next to the mailbox name nothing happens. Sorry, if this has already been reported.

Nope that hasn't been reported yet. I didn't build a new EMM for it so let me double check whether I need to or not.

Just realized that after installing v2.0.036 that the Whittaker Moore My Dash Names and My Dash Month modules are no longer in the Available Plug-Ins list, they are still installed on the iPAQ. The plugins list is dashboard_agenda.dll, dashboard_contacts.dll and dashboard_month.dll. Most of the functionality of the Whittaker moore modules is still available except the Globe Icon in the My Dash Names module links to the Dashboard help page. I'll try re-installing the modules and see if that fixes it.

I just bought dashboard and I wanted to upgrade to the newest version. unfortunately, the order lookup form does not seem to be working for me....i have tried all the combinations i can think of. I bought dashboard from handango. if anyone can help me out, i would appreciate it. oh and one other thing. i use PPC 2003 on an ipaq 5555, is there some way to have the dashboard skins take the place of the top and bottom "function bars" (i mean where the Start thing is and the New and Bluetooth buttons) on the today screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ok i learned from someone elses post that patiance is a virtue and that the 2.0 update will be made available as soon as my data is entered. as for the other stuff i could still use some help

Had a bit of a hard reset/manual rebuild episode the other day with my iPAQ 3835... dang, hate it when things go that buggy. Anyway, on trying to set up this beta Dashboard I found that I could not use my older-type skin folders, only the two new Juni defaults. After a few soft resets and some fiddling around with the skin path, suddenly Dashboard expanded, and I was left with absolutely no way to access the options. I could change views still, just not get at any options icon to swap skins.

After a dozen soft resets I gave up. I uninstalled Dashboard, then did the little registry edit which I've always had to do to fully delete Dashboard.dll (deleting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Dashboard" then soft resetting, then deleting the DLL manually), did a full backup with Pocket Backup 2.1.2.1, hard reset, then installed Dashboard all by itself. It worked fine, and all skins were accessible.

Then I did a full restore from that fresh backup, and of course the registry was overwritten. Dashboard was no longer properly 'installed', though the files were still there. I then re-installed Dashboard, this current beta again, and it worked/works fine so far. It's been about 10 soft resets since, and lots of other, subtler tweaking getting this build set up just nicely, and Dashboard seems happy. Just thought I'd mention this, as it seems there was a conflict of some sort, or a bug. I've too many titles installed to be able to isolate the conflict, if that's what it was, as it would take several months of constant effort to do a thorough and scientific series... but something made it useless, and that in itself is important, if difficult to use.

Hi Scott,

Not sure if you've figured this out already, but just in case. Re: PocketPlus' compatibility problem with Dashboard, I've just found out why it doesn't show up on the Today screen as it should. When you install PocketPlus on top of Dashboard, it gets added as a "checked item" on the Today program's Items list. Apparently, this causes a conflict with how Dashboard manages items to show up on its Today screen.

Anyway, to get PocketPlus' icons to show up on the Dashboard today screen, you have to go into Settings > Today > Items and UNcheck PocketPlus. Then it'll show up.

But PocketPlus looks really bad on the Today screen though because its icons are not transparent. Is this a Dashboard problem or a PocketPlus problem? I'd like the two to work together better.

Great job on the 2.x betas btw. Keep up the good work.
