Palm's CEO, Eric Benhamou may think that Palm will be taking market share away from Pocket PC (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/144310_palm17.html), but the trend seems to be just the opposite. Some weeks ago, we reported that HP's sales had exceeded Palm's in Australia. That was based on the number of units sold as well as the total dollar amount. Now, a similar event is happening in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
The number of devices HP has shipped to EMEA exceeds Palm by 8% for the third quarter of 2003. Shipments don't exactly translate to sales, but shipments are in response to demand.
