Pocket PC Italia (http://www.pocketpcitalia.com/3gsm_2004_2.asp) have published some very nice photos of the Windows Mobile based Motorola MPx Pocket PC Phone in action.
Between the built-in GPRS capabilities and the possibility of integrated WiFi & 1Bluetooth, this stands to be one class defining device.
I will admit that at time I have been jealous when friends have shown off Palm-based phone devices; mostly due to the fact that they have had some creative form factors. However, I believe that may all change with the introduction of this Pocket PC Phone device.
Innovation is always something I am excited to see these days, and I would argue this may change the very way in which we picture Pocket PC convergent devices. Anyone disagree? What are your thoughts?

The MPx appears to be what we've been calling the MPx300. I was going to post this on the home page, but it would be immediately before your story, so I'll just add some details here.
Here are the official Motorola announcement of the MPx (http://www.motorola.com/mediacenter/news/detail/0,,3869_3244_23,00.html) and a PDF data sheet for the MPx (http://www.motorola.com/mot/doc/1/1052_MotDoc.pdf).
I'll summarize the features here, too:
Microsoft Windows Mobile software allows compatibility with all Pocket PC applications
Large dual hinge landscape and portrait color display for an enhanced experience for gaming, as well as viewing streaming video, photos, applications and more
External color display for selecting MP3 music, etc.
One of a kind stylish form factor optimized to consume convergence clutter (whatever that means  )
Integrated 1.3 mega pixel camera for on-the-go photo capture (I'm glad it's not just a VGA! :) )
2.8” 240x320 TFT touch screen for easy data input that also works with a stylus
Multi-function QWERTY keyboard for easy text entry and managing e-mail
Embedded 802.11b wireless networking for high speed Wi-Fi access (this sounds like it's built-in!)
Integrated Bluetooth technology for seamless connectivity with compatible devices
Multi-Media Messaging Service (MMS) for sending photos, wallpaper, icons, ring tones and more
SD/MMC slot allowing up to 1 GB of add-on memory for adding business applications, productivity tools, games and more
IrDA (Infra red) and built-in "Active Sync" protocol to sync with Microsoft Outlook including email, address books, etc.
Wow!
The MPx is expected to be available in the second half of 2004.

Does anyone know if these will make it out of Japan? In the UK we rarely see any Phone Editions and I'd love to get my hands on one of those!

I'll get excited when someone announces that they are actually selling this device.

It'd be interesting to see who carries this device in the US. Perhaps the new Cingular/AT&T Wireless alliance.
I think T-Mobile may be out since they are set to carry the HP iPAQ 6300. Something tells me there may be some exclusivity there.
