Registered Version Question

What is the difference between the registered version and demo version?

Hi SeerHawk,

The biggest difference is that the public version was built back in September, and hasn't been updated since. While the registered user version continues to be updated on a regular basis with bug fixes, enhancements and new skin features.

Also, when the public version was built, the code for the Mail and MyDash sections was not complete and those sections are only available with the registered version.

I'm using the trial version right now and was wondering if any speed improvements have been implemented since September. If not, is "making it faster" pretty high up on the list of things to do?

Hi Ben,

For the release slated for later today, making it smaller was the highest priority - that is the memory footprint, not the EXE size... http://www.pocketnow.com/ubb/smile.gif

As a side effect of this, some testers have reported that it is faster for them, although that wasn't a main focal point. I'm always looking for areas of the code to improve as far as memory and speed. Sometimes however, there's not much I can do. For instance, some skins switch views slower than others. I think this is attributed to the compression used on the images, but I've never done extensive testing to come up with the "best" image type/compression to use. That will probably be an exercise for the future though.
