I am a new Dashboard user trying to install a new skin to replace the default skin.

I downloaded the skin "Natural" and unzipped to my desktop PC. Then (using ActiveSync explorer), I copied the unzipped files (7 of them) to a folder on my Jornada called "\Program Files\SnoopSoft\Dashboard\Skins\folder". Then I reset the pocket PC.

I went to the Dashboard "properties" - "skins" tab to change the skin and hit "Reload Skins", I never any new skins listed in the "Skin" picklist.

Any ideas how to get this to work?

Mike

After fiddling a bit, I solved the problems.

First - I upgraded to Dashboard v1.001a, which fixed the lockup problems I had been having when I pressed "refresh".

Second - There SnoopSoft Dashboard "Skins" help manual has a confusing statment indicating you should install the skins in "\Program Files\SnoopSoft\Dashboard\Skins\folder".

The FQA file says to install in "\Program Files\SnoopSoft\Dashboard\Skins". When I did this, the new skins showed up (no kidding...).

Anyway, I am now a Dashboard convert!!

Actually, all the documentation I've read says to put the skins in "the \program files\snoopsoft\dashboard\skins folder".

Notice the space between skins and folder; I took that to mean the "\program files\snoopsoft\dashboard\skins" folder; folder is not part of the folder name

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Thanks for the unbelievably fast response Chris. I think the comment from pmgibson above is correct. Thanks for tolerating a "newbie".

By the way, I work with a heck of a lot of software and as a result a lot of "support" sites. Most of the time, when the primary support is a forum, the software creator is nowhere to be found.

Your product and responsiveness is really impressive. Thanks for all the effort!

Hi,

Glad to hear you got it solved! I'm trying to make the directions and the FAQ's more clear. Things like this definitely help me clear it up so nobody else runs into it in the future.

Thanks!
