Hi,
SnoopSoft DashToday has been updated to version 2.2.
This update fixes some of the issues people were experiencing with the Contacts not appearing as well as some other Today screen integration issues.
The update is available from the Order Lookup site or PocketGear directly.

Chris,
Will there ba a Dash Today Standard for us loyal Dashboard users?
How much memory can actually be saved by using Dash Today instead of the full Dashboard/

Hey Chris,
Can we expect a new (.) dot release of Dash Today to support 3rd party PIMs?
Thanks,
Ken

Hi,
I am working on a new update for both Dashboard as well as DashToday. Dashboard is about complete and I'm working through a couple more things with DashToday.
What exactly do you mean by more 3rd party PIM support? What would you like to see?
I am targeting mid-late November for the update since I will be traveling overseas in early November and don't want to do a release right before I leave since I won't be able to easily support it.

I may have missed it, but I did not see a way to change the font size of Agenda or Tasks, like in Dashboard. If there is not, I request adding an option to change the font size, and adding a bold option to Dashtoday.
Thanks,

When you say Dashboard is about Complete, do you mean the latest revision or product life cycle?
I've been using Dashboard since the dark time before the empire. I won't run a PPC without it, and plan to use it as long as you're willing to keep it up to date and relatively bug free. :)
I love this program and find it more than worth the original registration fee.
Thanks for a wonderful product! If DB is near the end of its life cycle, what other stuff are you planning?

I would like to be able to specify Pocket Informant as my Dash Today PIM of choice, so when I open an appt, contact, etc from DT, it opens PI. Right now, it opens Pocket Outlook.
FYI, by way of the PI install, I have both my hardware buttons and default PIM shortcuts set to open PI as well.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi,
Haha Chris - you're reading WAY between the lines on that one. What I meant was that the next update to Dashboard is finished (adds in more font size options for VGA screens and fixes a couple bugs in font selection and skin rotation). I think Dashboard provides a much more stable environment for the Today page than Microsoft so it's not yet ready to retire. And still I haven't ever charged anyone for an upgrade! ;)
The next update to DashToday is not yet ready and I'd like to try to release them both at the same time (in case I change something in DashToday that I have to make an adjustment to Dashboard to handle).
Thanks for the feedback on the features. I'll look into the font changes and I will have to double check but I think I still have the PI integration in there just turned off for DashToday so I should be able to re-enable it.

Is the agenda module of DashToday 2.2 supposed to show tasks? I have only the Agenda module showing as active, and it is showing tasks and appointments, but I did not see an option to choose this. I could have sworn that in the past the Agenda module only showed appointments. This is not a complaint, I prefer it this way.

Hi,
When I split out the Agenda and Tasks modules for DashToday I also removed the functionality from the Agenda module to display Tasks so that people could pick and choose what they wanted on their Today page.
Thanks!

I had a hard drive crash and upgraded my Axim to WM2003 and am rebuilding my Axim. I went and downloaded my Dashboard and have it installed... but when reviewing the other components I was faced with so many choices... I have no idea what is what... any insights appreciated:
DashToday Advanced (w/ Enh Mail Module) v2.2
Enhanced Mail Pocket PC v1 - For use with Dashboard 1.5.001a only
Enhanced Mail Pocket PC v2 - For use with Dashboard v2
Enhanced Mail Pocket PC 2002, 2003 v2 - For use with Dashboard v2
DashToday Advanced Pocket PC 2002-2003 SE

I think you want the first one. The others are there for people who just want Dashboard and Enhanced Mail without DashToday and the last one is for 2003 SE devices only.
Part of it's my fault and part of it's Microsoft's fault for making so many different versions of things incompatible. :)

Just a thought on improving it, with the calendar it doesn't allow you to drop into the day within Pocket Outlook and view it. It only allows you to view an appointment on display.

I've purchased and installed this on my i-Mate Jam running WME2003. The function to add something to the launcher doesn't seem to work. When you tap New a white screen with a black fram around it appears and the thing you can do is tap Cancel. Icons do not appear on the today screen under the launcher section. I can't see any of theses screens: http://snoopsoft.com/dashboard/manual/launcher.html

Do the Skins work on this product? If so how on WME2003? It doesn't have the download directory mentioned on the website:
To Install a Skin
Click on the File: link to download the skin ZIP to your PC.
Unzip the skin file on your PC
Copy all of the files from the Skin ZIP to your PocketPC via the ActiveSync 'Explore' option.
They need to go into the folder:
/Program Files/SnoopSoft/Dashboard/Skins/
-OR-
your user-defined skins folder

Hi,
Currently skins are disabled for this. I'm looking at the best way to address that though and get some skin functionality into them.
For the Launcher issues - those are fixed in the next update which I intend to distribute as soon as I get a couple Dashboard issues fixed. They share the same codebase so I like to get all the issues out of the way before a rebuild.
Thanks!

I have the same problem. I quote from the manual:
SnoopSoft Dashboard will load up the contents of two folders: The Programs folder (\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\) and the user-defined Launcher folder (\Program Files\SnoopSoft\Dashboard\Launcher\).
I have no such folder--do I need to create one?

The email module won't read ANY of my POP email accounts.
What's up?
So far with this and the launcher issues, I am very dissatisfied!

I have built v2.3 and will post that to the order lookup site this week. That will fix your Launcher issues but I am not sure why it's not reading your POP mail. It should see any POP mail service you have enabled on the device.

Yes, it sees them but won't pick up the mail...it is like it times out before the server responds.

Hi,
It doesn't actually "read" the mail - it only reads the mail that is downloaded by the Inbox and allows it to be displayed on the Today page. It's also on a refresh timer of 5 minutes meaning it only looks to see if new mail has been downloaded every 5 minutes.
I had hoped to change some of the way it works but the mail implementation by Microsoft isn't that great and it took me forever just to get that part stable and functional. Most people who play with mail actually bypass Microsoft's implementation and rewrite their own and now I know why. :)

Scott,
How do I download the Dashtoday update? You promised to look into it as I have product ID but can't use the lookup page for some reason.
Also how do I know which version I have, I can see in the option of task plug in its 2.3, but I can't use the option of launcher and that plug in is the problematice one.

I did send you the details in private message
Hi, Chris. I just installed v2.3 on my i-mate JAM and have the same Launcher problem as reported in this topic a few months ago. I cannot add anything to the Launcher folder nor is the Launcher module reading any folders that I add to the Program Files/Snoopsoft/DashToday path. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks as always for your support.

I just discovered this product. I love Dashboard, why should I switch to this? What advantages would I have? The most important thing for me is to display both appointments and tasks on the today screen. Will this continue to do it as DashBoard has?
Thanks.
