Dashboard CE Install Problem

I have a Jornada 680 HPC Pro.

I finally got the app to install... (you have to pull out all of the SP1 mods and the 720 viewer to get and rid of pimstore.dll) but the app doesn't work right.

It wants to start in landscape mode, but then it has problems. The entire screen flashes white, then reverts to a PPC style screen, displaying the rest of the HPC Pro desktop to the right of the white display.

None of the PPC screen skins show up in the skins dropdown .

Chris, have you tried running this on an HPC/ HPC Pro? Do you have any suggestions in getting this to run correctly on my 680?

Hi Chris,

I don't have an HPC - I'm running it on a refurb'ed Casio E100. Do you have an HPC sized skin? I think Dashboard is sizing it's window based on the size of the image in the skin...

If you want to try email, I'd be willing to work with you on it some.

Sure I'd be willing to work with you. I really would like to be able to use Dashboard on my 680.

This is what happened:
I had the CE 2.11 Sp1 installed for CE devices, as well as some of the newer Jornada 720 software (it was reworked for the 680/690 series). This installed a version of pimstore.dll that Dashboard's CE install would not overwrite. Once those were removed, Dashboard installed without a problem.

Starting dashbaord took a few minutes. When the code finally did execute, the whole screen went white, and then it took on a PPC orientation.

While I understand what you're saying about the skin orientation, i think there's something in the original Dashboard base code that is preventing it from assuming the natureal "landscape mode" of the HPC. I tried using the SymbianLS skin, and DB won't even see the skins in the default skin directory. (Which is set to the storage card, BTW.) I didn't have a storage card; and when I changed the directory to the native skin directory on the HPC, DB STILL wouldn't see the landscape Symbian skin.


Something isn't right here... I'm not sure what it is, but its got to be the difference in the OS (PPC vs HPC Pro). Has to be.

The screen size is 640x240; but i left the unit at the office... i have no idea how to roll a skin from scratch (I use Skin Me when I created that Christmas 2000 skin...)
