Avatar modification, where?

It's not a site improvement post per se, but it belongs to this group, and the other subjects don't really apply here.

Anyway: I'd like to edit my avatar and could not find (I looked twice and carefully) the option in the User CP settings, neither under Edit signature, Email & password, Profile nor Options.

Where is it located?

When I go to my User CP, there's a link in the left navigation area. Here's what I see:

Control Panel
Settings & Options
Edit Signature
Edit Email & Password
Edit Profile
Edit Options
Edit Avatar (http://www.pocketnow.com/forums/profile.php?do=editavatar)
Edit Profile Picture
If you don't see it, try the link I posted above.

First attachment is what I see from your link: i.e. NO option to edit Avatar listed on the left and NO option to modify it, only option is to delete it.

Second attachment is from the User CP from Firstloox.org. They use the same bbs program vBulletin. Only difference is they have version 3.6.0 vs. 3.5.4 here. BIG changes however (from what I can view from my User CP) is the added menu option "Edit avatar" on the left hand list and 2 other options to a) choose from a selection of ready made avatars, and b) the option to load my own from an image on my computer.

Well, I see the Edit Avatar section, including the upload option. We don't have default avatars, but I would hope that isn't the problem.

I didn't see any permissions that would allow me to upload icons but prevent you from doing it. However, I did tweak the avatar options a bit, so let me know if you can see the upload section now.

Out of curiosity, can you see avatars in the threads? If not, try turning them on in Edit Options and then going to Edit Avatars again.

If none of that helps, I'm not sure what I can do. I know that we had some problems upgrading to 3.5.4 where various features didn't work, but I can see the upload option, so I don't know why you can't.

Can anybody else upload avatars?

Yes, I can see your Mr. Piggy alright ;) and every other avatar that people may have. And of course I can see my own Axim X5 avatar too. I recently got myself a Pocket Loox 720 and I just wanted to update the pix to reflect this.


If none of that helps, I'm not sure what I can do. I know that we had some problems upgrading to 3.5.4 where various features didn't work, but I can see the upload option, so I don't know why you can't.

:confused: I still can only see the 4 options that I listed in a post above under the "Settings & Options" section, and that are reflected in the first screenshot I published above.

Thanks anyway, but don't bother if you don't find a solution right away; I can live with my old Axim X5 avatar :cool:.

OK, I created a test account. I don't see the Edit Avatar section in the User CP on this account, either.

So either there's some permission-based thing blocking you (only Admins can change avatars), there's some post-based thing going on (you need more than X posts to change your avatar) or there's a bug. (There could also be something that I'm missing, like user reputation has to be above a certain level, but I'm not familiar with how that works.)

I spent 30-60 minutes last night trying to find out what could be wrong, but maybe I'll try again tonight.
