Palm’s first Windows Mobile device, the Verizon Treo 700w, saw huge success. The biggest complaint towards the new device was its low amount of RAM – a paltry 32MB that made even light multitasking into a chore. Palm worked to correct this issue, and when they released a follow-up to the 700w on the Sprint network, they added an additional 32MB, and called it the Treo 700wx. Join us as we determine whether the memory improvement made the device a winner. Read on for more!

I wonder how the added RAM affects the SPB Benchmark results.

well, considering I could never get Spb Benchmark to run on the 700w, it has to be better...

I thought it was just me that couldn't get SPB Benchmark to run on the 700w.

The Communications Manager also isn't the standard Communications Manager that you've come to expect from a WM5 based, AKU2.x device. Its a customized version that I've never seen anywhere else. While that in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, its not a good thing in this case, either. The applet is only accessible via the Control Panel's Communications tab, (there isn't a hardware button that gives you access to it) and you don't get the same options with it as you do with every other WM5, AKU2.x Communications Manager.
It's funny, because I've seen that Wireless Manager somewhere else -- on my Motorola Q after the software update. If it's also on a Palm Treo, either Motorola and Palm are using the same OEM, it's provided by the Bluetooth or phone stack vendor or it's some kind of new standard from Microsoft.

Here's the version on the Q:

As for accessing it, on my Q, I hold the Home button down which displays the Quick List and then select Wireless Manager from there. That obviously may not work on the Treo, but you might check it out.

I'm researching the differences between the Treo 700wx and Moto Q, which are both sanctioned by my company. One review on the Q indicated that the blue tooth mic/ear piece drained the battery pretty quickly. Has anyone noticed the same issue with the Treo? I've had problems with my Treo 650's battery just on conference calls, that after about 2 hrs I better find a power outlet, or it is just done... I assume between the talk and active sync (GoodLink) with e-mail/calendar it uses the battery twice as fast as the projected 4 hr talk time... I'm curious if I'll have a similar problem with the 700wx, and if so, if it is still better than the Q...
