The Motorola Q was one of the most anticipated Smartphones ever. Promising RAZR styling with Windows Mobile functionality and a QWERTY keyboard, this was one exciting device. Some people had even dubbed it the RAZRBerry, calling it a "BlackBerry killer". There are Moto Q reviews out there, and then there is the comprehensive pocketnow.com Moto Q Guide, covering each and every aspect of the device from the perspective of a first-time Smartphone user. This is a must read for anyone considering going Q. Read on for the guide!

Wow, that's way too long. (I had to say it first. :D)

I've got to say, I think I'm in love!! Now, I've only had my Q for a few days, but I really dig it. I've never owned a PDA before, so buying anything really made me do some research. I was trying to decide whether to spend the $300 on a PDA or buy a Smartphone, once Verizon popped in the $100 rebated it was a no brainer. Since I'm too accessed as far as the internet goes, I didn't get any data packages (or I'm part of the Pay As You Go) but I don't feel like I'm missing out. If someone were to say, "I just don't need all of that", the Q is the way to go. It's priced right, it has the basic features I want, and with the Mini SDT slot I can get a ton of storage. I had some issues with recieving Pix messages, but after a phone call to tech support and them resetting "something", I have no issues. After the reset, I've also not had a problem missing phone calls because the MMS was running in the background (something my research had seen alot of from other users, I wonder if the author had this trouble?). Since I haven't come in from a PocketPC background, I see anything wrong with not having the features the author noted but then again you don't know what you're not missing, right? Overall, I'd agree that this little phone really has it all, especially for the first-time user.

The Smartphone is a PDA, actually. It's just more of a phone first, PDA second, while Pocket PC Phones are more PDA first, phone second.

I had some issues with recieving Pix messages, but after a phone call to tech support and them resetting "something", I have no issues. To be honest, I don't use picture messaging much (read "at all"), so I didn't really test that. When you say "MMS was running in the background", what does that mean -- the Messaging program with the MMS account selected, the MMS message composition window actually open or something else?

I just tried incoming calls with the MMS account open in the background, composing an MMS message in the background and actually sending one. The calls came through each time, although it appears that I can't send picture messages (I get an error about sending information can't be validated).
