When traveling, the biggest problem is transferring data, photos, music and videos from a portable device to a PC and vice versa. Even with the best card reader, managing and transferring data can prove to be a less than convenient. Proporta may have a solution that would allow us to put away those cables and card readers for good. They now has an SD card with a built-in USB adapter. You read that right! So how would we transfer photos from a memory card to a PC? Can we travel abroad with nothing more than a memory card? Read on for the review!

SanDisk has had a similar solution for quite a while with their Ultra II SD Plus cards (http://sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1096)-SanDisk_Ultra_II_SD_Plus_Cards.aspx). Their USB connector flips out, though, so the card is the same physically as a regular SD card.

That leads me to my first question. Does the USB connector add any extra height to the card? Based on your review, it doesn't sound like it, but that's very important to be specific about.

Also, does the reduced width of the top of the card make it harder to remove from the "push-to-remove" connectors?

Finally, you said this was USB 2.0 compatible, but is it USB 2.0 High Speed or just the old 12 Mbps speed? I don't know whether SanDisk's card is USB 1.1 or 2.0, but does it matter unless one is High Speed?

To answer some of your questions...
The card is identical in size. If you were to fill in the cut outs for the USB, you would have a full SD card.

The reduced width of the top does make it harder to pop it in and out of a slot. You wouldnt think so, but thats the case.

On the USB 2.0 judging from transfer speeds I would say its not 2.0 high speed. The biggest issue (noted in the review) was the lack of documentation and specifications. The card ships in a blister pack with a cardboard insert. Beyond that your on your own.

Hope some of that helps.
