Perception 1: Battery life
As some of you know, my current day-to-day phone is a Verizon XV6700. An overall nice unit that has some pretty dismal battery life. One is lucky to get a full day of use out of the phone before the warnings start to appear. Mine is on the charger every night, and attached to power whenever possible. WiFi is always off, Bluetooth on, mid-level brightness, email set to manual, and very little surfing.
The 8525, on the other hand...let's just say I'm impressed. For a PDA phone this unit has a lot of juice available. After a day of use, I'm usually at 50% power, but no warnings. WiFi is still off, Bluetooth on, mid-level brightness, email set to automatic, and lots of surfing. No worries on power == no worries about connecting to the net for information. What a shock to my system! I've actually been able to leave the phone disconnected from power for the entire weekend - and never even thought to look at the battery meter.
Yes, the processor is different - but I'm not seeing any depreciable loss of speed for the gain in power. In any respect, the fact that I'm not worrying about missing a call because of available power is gone with the 8525.
Going back to the XV6700 is going to be a tad disappointing...
