This year, Christmas came a little early for me. I've been saying it for about a year. I picked up a Mac Book Pro, and I'm in the process of figuring out how to get Windows on it now.

Doing that isn't as simple or as easy as downloading Boot Camp. There are a few hidden gotchas that I didn't know about.

1. Mac OSX takes up about 27GB of space, leaving 93GB available on a 120GB drive.
2. Boot Camp requires XP SP2 or later. You can't install an earlier version and then upgrade to SP2, you have to start at SP2. (This is the MBP's EFI BIOS limitation

3. Installing Windows XP or Vista MUST be done with a full version license/CD. An uprade CD can't be used.

I'm going to be writing an review of the computer for Gear Diary (http://www.geardiary.com), so keep your eyes open for that to hit around the first of the year.

If OSX is taking up 27 GB's you are doing it wrong. Go to the OSx86 forums I have an HP Pavillion DV1000t running OSX 10.4.8 I know with OSX and Aperture running I am at about 9 GB's I have had to mac mini's and have worked on Mac Boooks :D

Actually, the PC also comes with iLife already installed, and I understand that tkaes up a lot of additional space. So, actually, its the OS and iLife that are taking up that much space.

I'm also toying with Parallels and will eventually install Boot Camp, and will see how it works with Native Windows.
