When I talk to folks about phones, they inevitably ask about mine. So I show them all the fancy features, and their faces light up, but when I put in the disclaimer, "it's a good PDA, but the phone isn't very good" (referring to my XV6700) their smiles turn upside down. It's a bit like holding a brick up to the side of your head, and the volume is generally low (unless you are using a headset).
The Cingular 8525 has changed my perception of PDA phones, at least in this regard. The call quality is fine, the volume is great even in somewhat noisy environments, and it's still a PDA! Oh, there are the occasional dropped calls, and a few minor niggles (which I'll try to note later), but overall, I like it. I like it a lot.
