Not unlike Brandon's predicament (http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=3935), I don't have direct UTMS coverage in my hometown. But just a few minutes north of me does, and the difference is astounding. Using DSL Reports (http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1) Mobile Speed Test, I clocked in speeds ranging from 400-890 kbs while travelling down the freeway. In fact, the speeds were so quick I doubted their results, testing several more times to verify consistency.
Is the difference that noticeable? In confirmation to Brandon's post, yes it is. The use of remote software (such as LogMeIn's mobile product) on UTMS was akin to DSL vs dial-up on EDGE.
Hopefully we will see a greater coverage map in the future, but for now, the little taste I'm getting is enough to keep me very interested.
