So how does the Treo 750 compare to the Treo 700w? To start, Palm put more RAM, 64MB, into the 750. The 700w had a paltry 32MB. Also different is the processor – the 750 uses a 300MHz Samsung processor, while the 700w sports an Intel XScale that clocks at around the same speed. And finally, the 750 runs on GSM with EDGE and UMTS, while the 700w is a CDMA phone with EV-DO. Right now, EV-DO is a bit more widespread than UMTS, but not for long.

In the weight department, the Treo 750 is 26 grams (0.10 ounces) lighter than the 700w – it’s also a tenth of an inch thinner. Is the difference noticeable? Not really. The 750 feels just as dense as the 700w since it has no external antenna, perhaps because the weight is distributed over a smaller area.

The screens are identical in terms of size and resolution – though I’d say the 750 has slightly better contrast.

The keyboards are about the same, but oddly, the colors are inverted. The number buttons on the 700w are black, while on the 750, they are white. Very interesting. I favor the 700w’s keys – they stand out more in bright situations. Also, some symbols on the keyboard have been moved around.

Just to clarify on the memory aspect. The 750, the 700w and the 700wx ALL have 128 MB of ROM with roughly 60+ MB available to the end user. The 750 and the 700wx both have 64 MB of RAM, while the 700w only has 32 MB of RAM.

You should be able to store as much stuff on any of these as the other, but the lack of RAM on the 700w greatly hampered the units stability and ability to multi-task. The 700wx (on Sprint, EVDO) does not suffer this same fate.

Good point! I've made the correction.
