Sprint just posted a teaser site (http://www.moreyous.com/) of the upcoming Palm Centro, the Palm Garnet version of the recently released Treo 500v (http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=4451) Windows Mobile Standard. The Palm counterpart retains the 320 X 320 touchscreen while the 500v sports a 320 X 240 landscape non-touchscreen display. Engadget Mobile (http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/09/27/sprint-ups-the-palm-centro-teaser-99-on-october-14/) is reporting that the device will be available in candy apple red, and will cost around $100 after $100 mail in rebate, a $25 minimum monthly data subscription, and a two-year contract agreement. Sounds like a good deal for smartphone neophites!

I will admit it looks cool on the exterior but this is pretty much the same stuff Palm has been pumping out for a LONG TIME. Who at that company has ANY vision whatsoever? BTW that dpad looks a bit suspect or at least not as functional as the usual dpad. I could be wrong.

It looks like Palm borrowed some elements from the LifeDrive for the dpad.

Well, Palm has to make the Treo look like a Treo, so we shouldn't expect a huge deviation from their current design. Or else, why would anyone want one, when a HTC Excalibur/Cavalier can be had?
The next step for Palm is to make their devices thinner - why are they still bricks?

I know a lot of people want a more revolutionary look, but I like it. I like the d-pad design. It looks like a nice device. Hopefully, it will have good battery life. Perhaps a thin but slightly thicker device will be more comfortable/ergonomic to hold than a super slim device.
