It looks like the Samsung i760 (http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=4637) with the design that either you love or hate, may be coming in a World Phone flavor to Verizon Wireless.
Details are slim here, but Engadget Mobile (http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/11/13/verizon-preparing-a-samsung-i760-world-phone/) seems to think that the World Phone version of the Samsung i760 will have EVDO for fast stateside data and GSM for international travel. There is rumor that the device may pack HSDPA onboard for fast data abroad as well.
If the i760 World Phone is released and Verizon Wireless follows its naming convention, we may see this as the Samsung i860 World Phone. The Samsung i730 (http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=3197) was released as the Samsung i830 when it packed GSM and CDMA radios together for world coverage and compatibility with Verizon's CDMA/EVDO network.
For those not familiar with radio terms, EVDO is the data network that works with Verizon Wireless', Sprint's, and Alltel's CDMA networks. HSDPA is the 3G standard adopted by much of the world for fast data on GSM networks. The benefit of HSDPA is that you can connect to voice and data networks at the same time.
