Mobile Madness: The Unchic Geek is a new column that will feature products and pictures that may have a purpose in the mobile professional's life, but look ridiculous.
The inaugural Unchic Geek item comes in the form of the LapDome, which was featured on Gizmodo (http://gizmodo.com/345760/lapdome-a-friggin-tent-for-your-laptopseriously). The purpose of this contraption is to provide a "tent" for your laptop, UMPC, or other portable device while you are lounging outdoors.
The LapDome will give users privacy and shield the screen from unwanted eyes, a sunscreen so that the display can be more visible outdoors in direct sunlight, and of course like a tent it would provide for protection from the elements.
If you're really in need of this tent, it arrives in four flavors: The Planet Rambler, the Planet Business Shoulder Bag, the Collapsible Compact Carry, and the Junior. The LapDome ranges from about $25 to $80. You can order one here (http://www.lapdome.com/products.htm#LapDome%AE_PLANET_RAMBLER).
I'll reserve my comments for you, dear reader. Would you be caught in public with one of those tents?
