The Skyfire (http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=5016) browser that was recently announced for a limited public beta was recently reviewed by Ed Hardy at Brighthand (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=13761).

Ed seems pretty pleased and impressed with the browser, although as a beta, there are a few bugs.

First, not a bug, but Skyfire hosts all the pages on its server which makes browsing speed blazing fast. The drawback is that privacy may be a concern for some users. Second, the unit featured a smart fit view, which enables you to zoom in to certain sections of webpages to make the text readable. Without smart fit, if you zoomed in to certain pages, text may overflow out of the readable area. However, with smart fit, the page is re-formatted and rendered so that text will always be within the readable area.

You can check out the Brighthand (http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=13761) video below.

That browser looks sick! It's about time too PIE is done and I never really liked Opera all that much especially the Java version. I've heard WinMo 7 is doing something like this and it is "supposedly" better. Whatever. Now why can't this browser render locally like the iPhone. Maybe their looking to make a little cash on the "data mining"...?

This looks like it might be the first "true" mobile browser to emulate the youtube site perfectly. No? That could be big.

Yeah, would be nice to view YT without having to download a bunch of plugins and programs on your device.
