We just posted about the new program (http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=5758) for the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro that lets you customize the application launching behavior activated when removing or inserting the stylus into the device's silo.

It turns out there's an even more useful program out there that lets you customize which software input panel is active depending on whether the stylus is in its slot or not. The application is available here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414422) and was created by exidler of xda-developers. It's a bit raw at the moment, requiring some registry editing in order to define which SIP programs you want to switch to, but once you've got it all set up it certainly works wonderfully.

WMPowerUser (http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=739) has posted a video:

So, while the stylus is in the device, you can set your favorite finger-friendly keyboard to be the default... and as soon as you remove the stylus, your favorite stylus-friendly input method will come up. No longer do you have to go through all those steps of bringing up the SIP menu and selecting a different SIP when you want a faster stylus-friendly on-screen keyboard.

If Microsoft takes my suggestion to have stylus-friendly and finger-friendly modes, a program like this could be used to switch between the two, not just between input panels.
