After having previously reported that the Kindle, Amazon's darling wireless e-book reader, would be [url=http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=5576]released in version 2.0 this Fall (http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=4840), Gizmodo is going back to clarify that this isn't the case. Gizmodo (http://gizmodo.com/5043120/rumor-smashed-no-new-kindle-this-year) is reporting that Amazon has told the New York Times (http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/08/28/extinguish-the-rumors-no-new-kindle-this-year/index.html?partner=rssuserland&emc=rss) that no new model will be coming this year, and that a new model would appear sometime next year at the earliest. If you're wanting the device, you can be spared for technological obsolescence for a few more months to a year. In addition, Amazon (http://amazon.com/) has a deal where you can apply for their card and get up to $100 off your Kindle.

I've re-posted Brandon's original review of the Kindle in spirit of the back-to-school season.
