Picked up a PPC and am looking for a PPC program that will ring TASK alarms according to what they are set at in the micorsoft outlook program. I've trialed Pocket Informant but I would need to reenter a task alarm time for each of 225 tasks. I don't understand skins but saw an illustraiton depicting a listing of tasks with assigned alrmed times. Does Dasboard accept the assigned alarm times assigned in outlook? Will they then ring at the set times? If not is anyone familiar with a program that does?

Appreciate the help. Rachel

Hi,

Task alarms for PocketPC tasks are always set to 8AM for some odd reason. Dashboard doesn't change this or do anything differently than any other program. If it's a big enough gripe, I'm sure we could find a way to change something to make it work better for people.

Chris,

I'd give my left...well...you pick an appendage, for this kind of functionality. And no, I don't want to use Pocket Informant to get it. This is one of my biggest gripes about tasks, seems like such a simple thing for MS to do but they simply ignored it.

If you are looking for new things to do with your product put this one at the top. Heck, make it a plug in module that you can buy if you want it, kinda like your email module.

Task Alarms a must have. I too can't understand why Microsoft missed having the task alarms times synch over to CE. As I mentioned I'm now up to 250 tasks that do not necesitate a scheduled time in the calendar but are repeating events which have to remind me to take an action. Example of applications include: verifying class attendance, payment due notes, birthday reminder calls, chores, and many many many maintenance tasks which you cannot set a time for (ie you simply fit them into your schedule according to available time) like: household maintenance like waterings, seasonal chores, daily chores, cleanings, preventive care....; yard maintenance like lawn care, weeding, feeding, plantings, etc... car maintenance like change routines, detailings, etc... personal maintenence which requires calls to define appointments, etc... children care - routine medical visits, etc.. The list is immeasurable. Obviously task alarms are vital as it is available in outlook, but you can't port the desktop. This has got to be a great return on investment. No program I have seen makes it available. negate - one program offers setting alarms on tasks but its a 1 by 1 effort on the PPC. I hope you may find some insight in this value of simply synching the outlook task alarm set times into the ce

You're right, neither task alarms synch over from desktop to gadget or gadget to desktop.

I'd be curious to know what kind of PocketPC you have and if you'll be able to upgrade to PocketPC 2002.

Chris, you've obviously seen Merlin... Will Merlin keep the task alarm time when synching?

Hi Chris,

I tested this out the other day and it didn't work. I set an alarm on Outlook to go off at NOON and it went off at 8:00AM on my Pocket PC 2002 device and at NOON on my PC...

Oh well... Maybe next time!
