There seems to be a difference of opinion as to whether BlueTooth hardware will ever drop below the $5 mark as was previously promised.
Read More: BlueTooth Controversy: Will the Hardware Really Drop Below $5?

Those silly bluetooth people...Bluetooth was already suppost to be in MANY things "at the start of 2001" but I have yet to see a bluetooth enabled device. Those silly Bluetooth people promised everything from coffee makers, cell phones, microwaves, printers, televisions, computers, PDAs...and the list goes on. They also did promise that it would cost a mere $5 for the bluetooth chip. SO WHY is the new iPAQ $50 more with just integrated bluetooth? And bluetooth cards are roughly the same price. I dont even see the point now to get integrated bluetooth into a PDA now as I have nothing else that is bluetooth enabled. One clever person said they dont want to get it because they dont want it to get lonely. I think this is a great way to put it. Its just a waste now to get Bluetooth, and really expensive because its pointless. Until a few more years when I see the long awaited internet smart fridge, and a microwave that is bluetooth enabled, will I see the need to get a Bluetooth card for my PDA. But still all-in-all Bluetooth right now is an expensive technology, and at this point it is a waste of money to invest in bluetooth. I also like the fact that these "promises" just promise that the bluetooth chip will be $5...what about the cost to actually make something bluetooth enavbled. Im sure far more, such as the bluetooth enabled iPAQ.
