This was a great article, Russ. You did a wonderful job with this. I knew that the kernel would run, but didn't know there was a version of X that would also run on the iPAQ.

I always like reading your columns. This one is no different.
With Flash ROMs standard now, I think that we will see more of LINUX on the PPC. Off the subject just a bit, I personally loaded up SuSE Linux 7.3 on a notebook over the holidays. I was impressed.
Keep up the excellent writing and pushing us to the limits in the PPC / PDA world.

Nice article, but there is one point I should add. Since the handheld now runs linux it means that it can be used to run anything on, for example, freshmeat.net. So you can, indeed run a word processor (like Abiword) or a spreadsheet program (like gnumeric), no problem, right out of the box. In fact the amount of free software may be one of the best reasons for using an alternative distribution.
