Since October of last year, Christopher Spera has had real life intrude on him a number of times, causing him to push the completion of this column off farther than he would have liked.*Now that we've gotten to the end of the line, he'd like to take a few moments to review where we've been, what we've seen, and what the results were.*
Read More: Roll Your Own: Can I Get an Amen..?

Visual CE is the Worse choice you could have made, not that any of the others are any better. It is overpriced and even contradicts one of your own criteria, it DOES require some programming to be able to do what you want it to do. Secondly, it could never be a STAND-ALONE application since it requires the Visual CE runtime to work and any "ABOUT" or copyright window would ALWAYS refer to SYBASE and not to you. It sounds as if you want to make this application so bad, you are going to SETTLE for something that ALMOST works. (Isn't that how we ended up with George W. Bush!)
Sybase has already stated they have no intentions of changing the synch procedure in their "cheaper" products.
If you are going to spend the money required to use Visual CE as you intend to, you would be better off using Filemaker Pro 5.5, which does do what you want it to do, with ALL types of PDA's. It isn't any cheaper, but it sure is less work!
