Introduction
Every generation of new devices we see adds new and improved functionality. Verizon and Samsung have just released their next generation device, the SCH-i760. Their goal was to blend phone and email functionality in a simple to use design. They have included a numeric pad on the front of the device for phone dialing and a pull out QWERTY keyboard for email typing, which is a rare form factor in the Windows Mobile world. Overall Impression
The Verizon Samsung SCH-i760 manual title is "SCH-i760 Series Portable Dual Mode Telephone", this description defines what Verizon and Samsung's goal was for this device. They wanted a telephone first and a PDA second. I believe they have succeeded. This is an excellent telephone with a readily available phone keypad . It is also no laggard when it comes to PDA functionality and provides a great hardware platform for Windows Mobile 6. It is definitely better than previous Windows Mobile devices I have used. The SCH- i760 is a solid performer and if you like having tactile feedback (hard buttons), this is the device for you. I found the numeric keypad to be very useful and I easily got use to the D-Pad and soft key buttons being offset to the left. Even though the look is utilitarian, the device's functionality outweighs any lack of style.
